DIY Filmmaker Current Video Contest

Contest Rules and Judging


Rules:


  • Films must be uploaded to your own YouTube account and a link emailed to DIYFilmMakerContest@gmail.com by the deadline. All films that miss the deadline cannot be considered for the contest, but are encourage to share with everyone. 
  • Each film will be placed into a contest playlist on the DIYFilmmakerContest YouTube channel.
  • Deadlines are 9 days from when the contest begins. (Ex - Begin date Feb 24th, Deadline is March 3rd) 
  • Films must include the supplied tag line, character name, and prop. Films also should stick to the specified genre. These will be chosen at random every two weeks.
  • Films must be no longer than 2 minutes (not including credits). 
  • Must Include a 2-Pop two seconds before the film begins. (This is to give everyone a fair shot in regards to time. )
  • Must include at least 1 DIY/Frugal Filmmaker item to create the video. However, the DIY / Frugal item must be listed in the credits. 
  • Content of films must be rated PG-13. Fighting / War films are allowed within common sense reason. 
  • All content included in the films should be royalty free or your own content. Stock video is not permitted. 


Judging:

  • YouTube Views will equal 1 point. 
  • YouTube Likes will equal 10 points.
  • 2 Judges will rate each film in the following 3 categories on a scale of 1-5 each worth 10 points. 
    • Technical - Does everything look and sound appropriate. Is the film white balanced properly? Did the film include all required elements? Did the film stick to the genre? 
    • Creative - Is the film original or originally executed. 
    • Like-ability - Did we enjoy watching it? 
  • We will tally up all the points and who ever has the most, wins. Obviously, the faster you get your video online, the more likely you'll accumulate points.
